Executive Branch Meetings
The Executive Branch of the Student Government Association (SGA) holds regular internal meetings to coordinate student advocacy, plan initiatives, and manage the daily operations of SGA. These meetings are essential to ensuring SGA functions efficiently and with unity of purpose. While these meetings are not open to the general public, students are welcome to request to attend under certain circumstances.
Types of Executive Branch Meetings
Executive Council Meetings
The Executive Council is made up of SGA’s four elected officers: the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. These officers meet privately to discuss strategic direction, make administrative decisions, and review updates from various branches of student government.
- Location: SGA Office – Roaden University Center (RUC) Room 372
- Attendance: Executive Council meetings are closed to the public. Members may also be found working in the office at various times throughout the week.
Executive Cabinet Meetings
The Executive Cabinet includes the four Executive Council officers plus appointed student leaders who manage specific areas such as civic engagement, student affairs, and university relations. The Cabinet meets to plan and implement programs, collaborate with committees, and communicate across SGA teams.
- Location: SGA Office – RUC 369
- Attendance: Cabinet meetings are private, but students may request an invitation to observe a meeting. Requests are granted at the discretion of the Executive Council.
Request to Attend a Cabinet Meeting
Students interested in observing an Executive Cabinet meeting must complete a request for consideration. While not all meetings can accommodate guests, we welcome engaged students who want to better understand how SGA operates behind the scenes.
To request an invitation, please provide:
- Your full name and Tennessee Tech email address
- Your student classification and major
- The reason you would like to attend a meeting (e.g., interest in student government, specific initiative, academic research)
- Any specific topics or areas of interest you’d like to learn more about
