Our Literacy Curriculum

Our evidence-based literacy curriculum emphasizes high-quality books that encourage children to think critically, develop strong reading skills, and learn from others. These books are carefully selected to engage children with meaningful stories, build literacy confidence, and foster curiosity. College-aged mentors guide scholars in reading, discussion, and interactive learning activities that promote both academic and personal growth.

Daily Schedule

8:00 - 8:30 AM | Breakfast & Morning Gathering

Scholars and staff start the day by sharing a meal and building community.

8:30 - 9:00 AM | Morning Kickoff

We begin each day with an uplifting and high-energy gathering that fosters a sense of community, motivation, and excitement for learning. This time includes a read-aloud, interactive songs, motivational moments, cheers, and reflections to set a positive tone for the day. We invite community members to serve as "read aloud" guests each morning.

Focused reading instruction that integrates literacy development, character-building, and leadership skills to prepare children for academic success.

10:30 - 10:45 AM | Morning Snack Break

10:45 - 11:45 AM | Literacy & Leadership Block (Part 2)

A continuation of engaging literacy activities, ensuring students develop strong reading habits and confidence.

A designated time for students and staff to enjoy books of their choice, fostering a love of independent reading.
